Alaskana Bookshop Rare and out-of-print books about Alaska and the Pacific Northwest, hunting and fishing, and USGS bulletins/professional paper. We have as complete as possible inventory of out-of-print books about Alaska. Eugene Short, the owner, has been a collector for over 40 years and has had the shop for the past 33 years. His current personal interest is miniatures, but he is well-known as an authority on Alaskan literature, and the shop is kept in as early-day Alaskan style as is comfortable. The friendly black cat will greet you. Store's vision: To preserve and return Alaskan literature to its home, the Bookshop building is about 50 years old, a typical frontier home. The owner is the former dean of the Anchorage Community College. We mostly serve collectors and stock and constantly search for hard-to-find Alaskana material. Alaska Natural History Association The nonprofit partner of public lands in Alaska dedicated to sharing the natural and cultural heritage that enriches Alaska. The Association operates specialized bookstores at 35 parks, forests, refuges, other public land facilities and on the web. Proceeds support educational programs for public lands and fund new publications. Members receive discounts on purchases. In operation since 1959, the Association works to inspire stewardship of Alaska's public lands through education. A Novel View A small shop of great books located on L between Fourth and Fifth avenues, around the corner from Snow City Cafe and across the street from Simon and Seafort's fine dining. Bosco's is a shopping adventure and excursion into the soul of pop culture. With a van load of comics, Bosco's has grown to a multiple store chain. Store's vision: "Get 'em what they want!" Hearthside Books 254 Front Street 8745 Glacier Highway Serving Juneau for 25 years, stop in at either of Hearthside Books two locations for books about Alaska or by Alaskans. Independently owned and operated, Hearthside Books does a great job of promoting local authors, regularly hosting authors for readings and book signings. Homer Bookstore We're a general bookstore with a special focus on Alaskana, classics and children's titles. Also a great card selection. The Bookstore has been operating here in Homer for 20 years. Our staff is always happy to recommend favorites to our customers -- whether they're locals or tourists. Jubilee Christian Bookstore We are a Christian store that carries Christian books, music, gifts, children's books and toys, pictures, greeting cards and Bibles. The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center Museum Store The Kenai Visitors and Cultural Center is located at the heart of the oldest permanent settlement in Alaska at the corner of the Kenai Spur Highway and Main Street. We offer books on the natural history, flora and fauna of Alaska and the Kenai Peninsula, as well as a wide selection of Alaskana, maps, gifts, postcards, original art, Alaskan children's books and Ray Troll T-shirts and books. Kotzebue Public Lands Information Center Last Frontier Christian Book Fair, LLC The full service Christian department store in Anchorage, featuring Bibles, books, music, gifts, T- shirts, church supplies and much more. Access to 140,000 titles; 9,000 square feet of in stock products. Staffed with friendly, helpful, knowledgeable people, ready to serve you. We have been in business for thirteen and a half years. We also have a discount store, Frontier Outlet, a 2,700 square foot publisher's clearance store. Located at the end of Fireweed on Spenard that offers really good buys. We do mail orders all over the state with Visa and Mastercard. Check our Web site for great "Web" specials. Metro Music and Books Music and bookstore with largest selection of music in the state. Locally owned and operated for over 20 years. Family business for over fifty years. The vice president is a Native Alaskan woman. Specialty in investigation of questions both musical and literature related. The staff is interested in your ideas and desires. Our book selection is hand picked and very good. Our music selection is one of the best I have ever seen in variety and depth. The Observatory, ABAA Rare and common old books and maps. Specializing in Alaska and other polar regions, but also a general store. Bestsellers are books on exploration, history, hunting and true adventure. First and oldest used bookstore in Southeast Alaska -- since 1979. No catalogs but lots of personal service. The store does book and map searches and has a certified appraiser. "As a historian of Alaska, my heart is in Russian America and the Russian mapping of Alaska," says Longenbaugh, who is currently working on a book on mapping. The store's vision is to educate and provide accurate and well-written books, especially those on Alaska. Old Harbor Books Independently-owned bookstore in downtown Sitka, specializing in Alaskana, nautical, Native American and Alaska Native, children's books, ecology, travel, natural history, philosophy, special orders and out-of-print searches. Old Harbor Books was formed in 1976 by a group of devoted book lovers, most of whom are still serving on the bookstore's board. Owner/managers Don Muller and Marylin Newman have worked at OHB since its inception. OHB stocks an inventory of over 16,000 titles along with a comprehensive selection of nautical charts and topographic maps for the region. We believe in actively participating in the community. We support public radio as well as all kinds of activities and get involved in community issues, even controversial ones, especially environmental concerns. Store's vision: The right book for the right person at the right time. Orca Book and Sound Co. Pratt Museum Store River City Books and Espresso Café River City Books and Espresso Café is located in scenic Soldotna, Alaska, on original homestead land. Peggy Mullen owns and operates the renovated Cornerstone Marketplace, which houses seven businesses, including her own River City Books. The bookstore offers comfortable seating and a variety of events, including book readings and storytimes for children. The café serves soups and sandwiches, in addition to coffee, and many of the vegetables and herbs used in the Cafés cooking are grown in the garden out back. Tales Told Twice We are a new and used bookstore located in beautiful downtown Talkeetna. We are open all winter long and offer new release video rentals as well as books to see you through the long winter days! Thanks to our generous trading policy our inventory is constantly changing and expanding and we have something for everyone.
