Caddie Woodlawn, By Carol Ryrie Brink

Caddie isn’t much of a “lady.” She lives on a farm in Wisconsin in the 1800s with 6 brothers and sisters. This is not a good time to be running around like a wild turkey. She would rather plow than quilt and go hunting than cook. While her mother tries desperately to make her into a lady her father takes her fishing. She is being pulled in separate directions and her mother takes everything that she can do for the family for granted. When their family is granted a sudden offer to be lords and ladies in England what will be their choice? Will she finally be forced to wear dresses and quilt or will they stay on their beloved farm with kind Indians and a happy carefree life? Altogether, the suspense and adventure of life on a farm is enough to make anyone crazy for Caddie!
