Suicide

By Chantel Lucas

Tears were streaming down their faces as they sat together.
They had just lost a loved one, and just lost him forever.

The life ahead of him was great,
he was really smart.
He was going in to college, he had a terrific start.

He seemed really happy, not depressed or as sad.
No one knew he felt so desperately bad.

When the police found him, he had a rope around his neck.
There wasn’t an ounce of life left in him, not even a little speck.

The guilt showed on their faces obviously that night.
No one would believe their ears and were overwhelmed with fright.

No one could guess why he took his life.
He meant so much to them so creative, so much strife.

Adults, teenagers, and children are all dying here today.
They are not murdered by other people, but are their own prey.

If you know someone really sad, please stay by their side.
Don’t let them take their life away and do suicide.
