The Rose

By Emily McLaughlin

The last petal on the rose of my life is falling,
I cannot stay here forever more
This life has come and gone so quickly
Death is knocking on my door

I will open it and invite him in
I’ll let death wrap around me
He’ll carry me up the stairs with no steps
Where heaven’s angels await me

There I will stay
Knowing I have come to a better place
Without wars
Or murders
Or lives torn apart
A place full of happiness
And joy in the heart
