Since 1981 when it was founded by Professor Ronald Spatz, the University of Alaska Anchorage Department of Creative Writing & Literary Arts and the Anchorage Daily News have sponsored an annual creative writing contest that has drawn participants of every age in every part of Alaska. A selection of winners has been published each summer in We Alaskans, the Sunday magazine of the Anchorage Daily News. LitSite Alaska is pleased to present the We Alaskans selections from recent years of the University of Alaska | Anchorage Daily News Creative Writing Contest. Selections from the 1996 through 2006 contests are currently included.
