Deirdre's Postcard from Ellemar, Alaska

Deirdre and fish

Summer 2000

Dear Dani,

Greetings from Ellemar, Alaska! I've been in Ellemar for about two hours, and it's beautiful. There is wildlife everywhere. On the way over in the plane I saw a brown bear running below us, and two bald eagles fighting for a salmon. The water is calm now although the tide never stops. It brings new treasures for us to find with it every time. Katrina and I already found lots of old pottery. On our walk we saw spawning salmon trying to swim their way up stream. A black bear was waiting to catch them a little farther up stream. I wish you were here.

Love,
Deirdre Bonfield
