Sweet Peas,
Thick fog prevented us from landing on time this morning. The captain announced our plane was to be the last one in for today. The Juneau forecast is for rain turning to showers in the afternoon. The voice of the weather person sounded cheery about that so I will take it as a positive sign. Moss hangs from the ends of the branches of the trees that grow here. It makes them look spooky like something from Christmas past. Very Dickenesque! Tomorrow, I will walk down a path lined with berries, past bears (Ive been told), to my classes at University of Alaska-Southeast. The university is small and quite charming. It sits peacefully overlooking Auke Lake. On a clear day, I will be able to see Mendenhall Glacier from anywhere on campus. I noticed a sign for kayak lessons. I am going to be the first in line so I can begin to explore this great Alaskan place! I miss you. xoxo.
Love,
Mom (Lauri Packebush)
