Looking at Books Through First Graders' Eyes

Young children are usually eager to talk about what they love in a book, and they like to interpret it through their own illustrations, too.

For these first grade book reviews, students in Beverly Courtnage's Anchorage Oceanview Elementary class chose from a list of books to read, then either wrote down or dictated their thoughts. Parents typed the text for each student's book review and bound it together with the student's artwork. The children loved seeing their ideas in print. Here are two examples:
