Dave and the Eagle
By Kaitlyn Buskirk
Once there was a man named Dave. Dave lived in a village named Crooked Creek. The village people didnt have any food because they couldnt find any animals to eat.
One day Dave went to help the village hunt for food. Dave went hiking on his own. Suddenly he heard a noise. He looked up and saw a golden eagle. He ran back to the village and told them about his discovery.
They didnt believe his story because theyd been hunting for a long time and hadnt spotted anything. They had just given up. So Dave said, Fine, but if I kill that golden eagle, you dont get any.
That night Dave went hunting again with all of his hunting gear. He set out and heard another noise. There was that same eagle up on a short tree.
Dave got out his hunting gear and threw up a spear. At first he missed, but the third time he hit the eagle. The eagle came flying down. Dave went to get his catch.
The next thing the village people knew was that Dave had caught an eagle. They all ran up to him and begged for some food but Dave told them no, because they didnt help him.
Dave thought it over. He knew that if the people didnt get some food, even a tiny bit, real soon they would die and he would be all alone.
Dave took all the skin off the eagle. He took the meat and went to every family and gave them a little bit of food.
There was a little bit left over for him.
That next night they had a celebration for Dave for getting the eagle. Dave danced with his mask he had made with an eagle on it, to celebrate the eagle he had caught.
After the celebration, they went out hunting for more food in case they would get really hungry again.
