The Wolf and the Rabbit

By Rachelle Kanady

Rachelle Kanady's maskOne day a wolf named Ann was to get food for her pups. She found a rabbit hole and there was a rabbit in it. The rabbit looked out. The wolf pounced on the rabbit and she caught it.

She carried the rabbit home. The father wolf was happy that she finally came home. They ate the rabbit outside under the trees.

The next day, the mother wolf was at the bones of the rabbit and the rabbit's spirit was there. It said, "You did a good thing for your family. I am happy you came to my bones. I am going to the hole today and I want you to come. I have something to show you," the spirit said.

The spirit and the wolf went to the hole. They saw some baby rabbits. The mother of the babies said, "I saw you kill my husband and I am sad you did."

The next day, the mother wolf and her pups went to the hole. The mother rabbit was happy that she had brought her pups. The moms and the pups were playing and the spirit was very happy and they were too.
